Flower Magazine Showhouse

The first multi-designer Flower Magazine Showhouse opened its doors for the month of November in the historic Buckhead neighbourhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Top-tier talent from across the US came together to transform the classic Regency-style home. The end result was a series of transporting, unique vignettes bursting with creativity and sharing a dedication to timeless design.

With the vast blank slate before them, Corey Damen Jenkins, Jared Hughes, Julie Dodson, Lisa Mende and Michelle Nussbaumer were among the seasoned designers who brought a fresh take on traditional design to the property.

Working closely with our in-house studio, Julie Dodson created a bespoke textured rug for her fabulously feminine blush pink dressing room, saying:

"The Rug Company made the process seamless, and they completely nailed my vision. The wall-to-wall Peony carpet has a gorgeous texture that creates a floral pattern, perfect for Flower magazine.” - Julie Dodson

Lisa Mende opted for an elegant Sunray Pink for her gilded, second-story bedroom. The expansive rays helped tie in the geometric patterned ceiling and varying floral hues throughout the space.

“Even though this rug is a pattern, it serves as a neutral on the floor, so it works really well with the florals and geometrics in the room.” - Lisa Mende

Corey Damen Jenkins’ hallway to his secret speakeasy featured a Refraction Light runner, which explored colour and form through its abstract design.

The grand entry foyer, designed by Michelle Nussbaumer, nodded to the home’s European influences and featured a bespoke, fluted Bordeaux rug.

“I drew inspiration for my room from the gardens at the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. The gardens are based on French, Spanish, Florentine, Provençal, and Japanese designs. Such inspiration also materialised in my wallpaper from Paul Montgomery, called Villa Ephrussi Gardens, which we created specifically for the show house. The rug from the Rug Company is the perfect complement to the design, lending it a rich layer of colour and texture.” - Michelle Nussbaumer

Jared Hughes’ custom Climbing Leopard scaled the three-story stairwell and led guests throughout the home. The neutral tones and leopard print created an intriguing entrance to each adjoining floor. He explained the customisation process, saying:

"I've been obsessed with this pattern from The Rug Company for a long time. I use a lot of animal-print runners because they're so forgiving. These leopards appear to crawl up the stairs—the design is both quirky and classic." - Jared Hughes
